What's the Perfect Movie Companion? Salted Caramel Popcorn!
by Adrianna Adarme on Feb 27, 2014
The Oscars are on Sunday. Are you having a party? A get-together? I'm throwing my boyfriend a birthday BBQ during the day, which is actually taking me a good amount of work, so I'm planning on changing into some pajamas and hanging out at home for the big show. I love eating popcorn with anything remotely movie-related. I think we all do.
Admittedly this Salted Caramel Popcorn is a bit more work than microwaved popcorn but I think it's worth it. If you've never made caramel before, here are my tips:
- Get all of your ingredients together before hand. Measure them out, put them in bowls and have them within arms reach.
- A candy thermometer isn't necessary but it makes it so much easier. When the sugar cooks, it bubbles, making it difficult to see the true color of the cooked sugar; using a thermometer takes the guessing out of caramel-making.
- A layer of nonstick cooking spray on everything helps with clean-up and makes it easier to toss the popcorn with the caramel.
That's it! It's pretty straight-forward after that. I think we all love a bit of salt in our caramel. That salty and sweet action is perfection. Add the crunch from the popcorn and it's officially my favorite snack.
