Alejandra Ramos
Alejandra Ramos is the returning host of The Great American Recipe Season 3, premiering Summer 2024 on PBS.
Alejandra is a television host, TODAY Show contributor, and writer. Known for her vibrant, playful culinary point of view, and passion for style both in and out of the kitchen, Alejandra’s ability to inspire in a way that is fun and approachable has made her a favorite with audiences nationwide.
In addition to her broadcast work, Alejandra hosts digital cooking series and holiday specials on NBC’s streaming app Peacock. Previously, she was a host on Food Network Kitchen, appeared as a chef personality on the Cooking Channel show Food: Fact or Fiction?, and was a co-host on the Amazon morning show Today’s Deals Live.
As a writer, Alejandra contributes original recipes and essays to a number of publications. Her work has appeared on NBCNews.com, Cosmopolitan, The Kitchen, Real Simple, O Magazine, and Saveur.
Before pivoting to a career on television, Alejandra worked in various parts of the food and media industry; she was an International Editions Editor at Hearst Magazines, was the contributing food writer and photographer for Cosmo for Latinas magazine (RIP), taught a series of popular dinner party style cooking classes in Manhattan, helmed the kitchen at a yoga retreat center in Vermont, and ran an underground mail order bakery and dessert catering business for one very exhausting year.
A native New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent, her Latina heritage proudly informs her work, providing a fresh and authentic perspective across platforms.
Alejandra is a believer in using her platform and resources as a Latina woman in a competitive media industry to help others also rise. She’s a champion of encouraging authentic diversity and representation on and off camera and works with corporate and nonprofit partners on various DEI initiatives. Since 2020, her regular product segments on TODAY have helped shine a light on more than 100 incredible BIPOC, Latinx, and women-owned small businesses from around the country. She also sees food as an expression of love during difficult times. In 2018, she joined Al Roker and a team of 7 other celebrity chefs in Chico, California, to cook for firefighters who had lost their homes while fighting the California wildfires.
And, after Hurricane Maria devastated her family’s home island of Puerto Rico, Alejandra collaborated with colleagues to raise awareness and donations of $25,000 and several thousand tons of non-perishable products to hurricane relief.
In recognition of her work, Alejandra was called a “Rising Latina Food Star” by NBC News, “One to Watch” by Latina Magazine, and named one of HOLA! USA’s Top 100 Latina Powerhouses in 2021.
Alejandra studied at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and Apicius International School of Hospitality in Florence, Italy, and has recently returned to school full-time to pursue a degree in Creative Writing at Columbia University in the City of New York.
She lives in New York with her husband, Eugene, their dog, Jojo, and a wardrobe of colorful dresses that is too big for a tiny Manhattan apartment. Outside of the kitchen and the classroom, she loves working on her urban garden, reading poetry, and binging all things MASTERPIECE.
